Increased global footprint
Joint venture between Vanga Industrial Products and SumiRiko AVS Holding Germany GmbH / Deeper integration into the SumiRiko system / Reorganisation of SumiRiko South Africa (Pty) Ltd.
“With our new structure under the umbrella of the Japanese group Sumitomo Riko, we can meet the needs of our customers anywhere in the world,” said Olaf Hahn, CEO of AVS Europe of the Sumitomo Riko Group. “With the restructuring of the South African joint venture SumiRiko South Africa (Pty) Ltd., we have taken a further step towards increasing our global footprint.” The specialist for anti-vibration systems with its European headquarters in Steinau an der Strasse holds a 50 percent stake in the joint venture. Vanga Industrial Products took over the other half from the former Anvis partner Bel Essex in 2016. “Both partners have come up with a promising plan for the future and are keen to work as partners in the long term,” said Hahn. The contracts were signed during a small ceremony at the end of August. The ceremony which took place in Steinau was attended by the President of Sumitomo Riko Tetsu Matsui.
In addition to the new name, the partners agreed to restructure the entire company to get it on course for the future. “The plant in Port Elizabeth will be more closely integrated into the group structure and will therefore benefit from the SumiRiko system,” said Hahn, summing up the agreement. As a result of the changes, it will be easier to use innovative technologies and technical support from the group will be available more quickly.
Over 40 employees at the plant in South Africa produce anti-vibration systems and hose systems for automotive and industrial applications, for example engine bearings, chassis dampers, silencers, components for fuel filler systems or rubber hoses for liquid or gaseous media. The South African plant supplies OEMs such as Daimler, VW, Nissan, Toyota, Tenneco, Control Instruments, Alstom and Transnet. Thanks to the newly established joint venture, the company is now certified in accordance with Level 4 of the South African Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act (B-BBEE). As the basis for economic activities, this brings a number of business-related benefits.
